The Review: Chapstick Medicated Lip Balm

Not going to lie, I was skeptical about using this lip balm. In the past, every Chapstick lip balm I would use would be useless for me. So I would never think to go out and get a lip balm from them. Then, one day my mom ended up buying me their medicated lip balm, and since we all know I'll give any product a shot, I thought why not?
The packaging is simple and blue, with the white lid. It's in a stick form, which is my favorite lip balm form. The product itself is actually very good! I was surprised that this stuff actually healed my lips. It kept them moisturized for hours and put cracks at bay. Also, the mint flavor always gives a bit of a cooling sensation, which I always translate to actually doing something, regardless if it is or not. I was actually a bit sad that I hit the end of the tube the other day that I tried to use up every last bit.
So, good job Chapstick! You changed my opinion about you (at least with medicated products)!

Try It Tuesday: Too Faced PBJ Palette

This is one post I had planned to write about much later, but let's be honest, I couldn't help myself and had to try it out asap! The backstory: I first heard about this palette at work one night. My manager told me that Too Faced is coming out with this palette, it's Ulta exclusive, and it smells of peanut butter. I was like oh, okay that's cool, I got too many shadows though so I don't know if I will get it. Fast forward a few weeks later and I see Too Faced's instagram where I see the palette in all it's glory. My first thought? I need that Jelly color because it's BEAUTIFUL. Most of the colors were warm toned, which I don't really go after, so I was telling myself that I would probably be paying a lot just for one color. Then there were sleepless nights where I just couldn't stop thinking about it, watching tutorials using it, and then looking at more pictures of it. I became obsessed. But then I had no idea when the palette would be in store…

Here's a list of songs that I've been listening to, singing along to, or just can't get out of my head...

Foodie Friday: Lox Bagel

Let me just start this with a funny tidbit about this food: I never knew that smoked salmon on a bag was referred to lox. I always referred to it as a bagel with salmon and onions and capers and cream cheese. Basically, this is one of my favorite breakfasts ever. It is basically a Saturday breakfast treat that my family has at least once a month. I think it tastes best on an everything bagel. My family likes to add tomato slices on the bagel as well but I don't like tomatoes so I don't add them. I also think that adding capers is so lovely and having no capers just isn't the same. It's a very salty breakfast that doesn't leave me with the best breath, but I just love the taste just so much that I put up with it.  What's your favorite breakfast?

Watch It Wednesday: Sprinkleofglitter

Way back when I got into the world of YouTube, I was watching Zoe and loved whenever she would have a video with her best friend Louise. Their laughter just made me laugh.  Watching Louise a bit more, I found that I just loved her humor! She has a pretty similar makeup taste to me and since she loves glitter and I love a bit of eye and lip glitter, it's been a pretty good influence so far! I also get inspiration from her fashion choices.  I mainly fell in love with her vlogs for a while, they are just so entertaining somehow. Her happiness is just infectious and her videos always bring a smile to my face. Louise posts lookbooks, DIY videos (mainly more attempts at them), favorites, hauls, get ready with mes, challenges, and vlogs on her second channel.   Louise has made a name for herself with a fashion line for Simply Be and her own book, A Life With Sprinkle of Glitter, and her own diary! She is definitely one to watch!

Try It Tuesday: Benefit Rockateur Blush

I know my Benefit Advent calendar goodies have probably seemed annoying since it's mostly all I've been trying recently but I swear this is the last of the bunch!  I find it funny that i'm not fussy over blush and bronzer because I don't buy into contouring as I like my face shape the way it is and I just like those things for color purposes. That being said, I like the natural glow look lately. I think I've shocked myself by saying that. Someone with generally oily skin wanting glow?? Well I like it on my cheeks as they are quite dry.  Anywho let's go on with the first impression. So the packaging is cute and simple as all Benefit products are. I actually was a bit wary of the packaging on this one as it's in a plastic container so I'm always afraid I'm going to break it when I open it. The color itself is a beautiful goldy pink. (I believe someone I watch called it a rose gold but it's more pink to me)/ It goes on very naturally which is nice si…

Music Monday: Currently Listening To- 3/21/16

I was feeling very sing-songy this week and very empowered. Here's a list of everything over the past week that I have been listening to, singing along to, or just can't get out of my head...
Ariana Grande- Dangerous Woman Meghan Trainor- NO Meghan Trainor- Better When I'm Dancing Meghan Trainor- Walkashame Little Mix- Salute Little Mix- Love Me or Leave Me Demi Lovato- Yes Demi Lovato- Stone Cold Kelly Clarkson- People Like Us

The Review: Neutrogena Healthy Lengths Mascara

I feel like I always give an explanation on how I encountered a product, so here ya go! I basically go through a love hate relationship with mascaras. If you dig through any of my mascara reviews, you'll find that I go through a pattern of loving them for a about a month, and then slowly start to hate them and question my lashes because the mascara is just so shockingly bad. This was (almost) the opposite.  At the time, I was just finishing up using Maybelline's The Rocket mascara. I was fed up with the impossibly hard to take off formula and that was the day I swore off waterproof formulas. I walked into Ulta and I believe my sister was trying to get the Neutrogena deal of like buy two, get one half off or something like that so I helped her out and bought myself a mascara and if it says "healthy" and "lengths", I'm all ears!  I hated it when I first tried it. Okay maybe not hate. It was just too natural for my liking. I was used to having formulas that …

Watch It Wednesday: Fuller House

I'm sure that unless you live under a rock, you know about the Netflix reboot of Full House, Fuller House.  I usually don't binge TV shows, but just watching the first episode gave me such nostalgia that I had to keep watching it. I think it took just one day to finish it.  Basically it's the same Full House plot: widowed parent has their best friend and family member help raise the kids and deal with their own problems as well. Now in this case, it's DJ who is widowed, who has her

Try It Tuesday: They're Real! Remover

I think I've gotten much better with my skincare routine lately. I'm adding in more products and I've stayed consistent with it. I think I heard one time that your skin gets used to a routine so you need to change your products once in a while (which is probably not true at all but I have such an intense need to try every product I can that I still follow it). But one thing that has never changed over the past 4(!!!) years was my makeup remover...until the other day when I gave Benefit's They're Real! Remover a go.
Now I tried quite a few times to try and take off all my eye makeup at once with a makeup remover...but to be frank, it's annoying and I much rather have my cleanser do the work and when I wash my face in the morning I'll just take off the makeup under my eyes with a q-tip with a makeup remover. So in general, the makeup removers I use don't need to be expensive, just need to get the job done.
They're Real Remover has cute packaging, but …

Music Monday: Currently Listening To- 3/14/16

This week I was all over the place with music. Have a look at which songs I've been listening to, singing along to, or just can get out of my head over the past week...
I Do Not Hook Up- Kelly Clarkson Angel- The Weeknd Never Be- 5 Seconds of Summer What A Feeling- One Direction No- Meghan Trainor Better When I'm Dancing- Meghan Trainor The Mechanic- Rascal Flatts Behind These Hazel Eyes- Kelly Clarkson Eleanor Rigby- The Beatles (I've been singing it the way Dalton Rapattoni sang it on American Idol) Country Grammar- Nelly

Foodie Friday: Homemade Burrito Bowl

I'm a huge fan of Mexican food. I honestly don't have it enough. But when I do, I have it for a whole week because I make the foods in bulk.  The other week my mom made burritos for dinner. That sparked my craving for all things beans and spicy. So, I decided to make a burrito bowl for myself the next day for a lunch/dinner to last me a few days. It also is all of 5 things and takes less than 5 minutes to make.
What you need: Can of beans of your choice (I put in black beans) Can of sweet corn Meat of your choosing (I used chicken) Chopped cherry tomatoes (as much as you want) Black pitted olives (again as much as you want) Any lettuce (I used about a handful) I felt as if there was enough flavor from the ingredients that a dressing wasn't needed but you can add whatever else you would put into a burrito...
See? So easy! What is your favorite meal at the moment?

The Review: North Pole Yankee Candle

I'm a big fan of Yankee Candles. I think they do a better job on the sweeter scents than Bath & Body Works. I got the North Pole candle for Christmas so apologies for it being out of season but I genuinely just finished the candle.
It smells exactly what I imagine the North Pole to smell like. It's a very minty scent but not so heavy that I can easy burn it all day and not want to gag. My only complaint with Yankee Candles is that the wick to area ratio sucks. It takes a whole day for the candle to evenly burn. Unfortunately, somehow this candle was blown out before it could burn evenly and it created a well that took forever to remotely fix. But then again, the candle lasted me 2 months with me burning it fairly regularly which is nice since they are not the cheapest things.
What's your favorite Yankee Candle scent for winter?

Watch It Wednesday: Zoella

Where do I even begin? Let's take it back to the first time I ever heard of Zoe! One day, during senior year of high school, me and my best friend were hanging out. I believe we somehow got onto the topic of beauty related things and my friend happened to mention that she saw this girl on YouTube talk about this one nail polish color in a video, which I believe was her February Favorites. Now at this point she was telling me that she's seen a few of her videos and that she's this thing called a YouTuber and regularly uploads videos. Then she's like oh yea she has another channel where she posts videos of her hanging out with her friends. And get this, they made videos too!
Now I am one who can get obsessed with things pretty quickly. When my friend was telling me about her knowledge of the YouTube world, I was in awe. As soon as she left I decided I wanted to watch every single video from Zoe (which then began a habit when I watch a new YouTuber- I binge watch the video…

Try It Tuesday: NYX Whipped Lip & Cheek Suffle

Let's be honest, I'm a sucker for a lip product. The will power I have to resist buying a new product daily is a struggle.

But since I work at Ulta, I'm constantly shown new (to me) lip products and I usually pass up since I just have so much. But my friend asked me if this particular NYX lippy was a matte finish or not. We were trying to help a customer and in the process I ended up swatching some on the back of my hand. And then the next day I decided to get the shade Berry Tea for myself!

Before I get too much into the product, let's talk packaging! They're in cute little bottles with a long cap and the applicator is a doe-foot applicator that is shaped more like a water-drop to fit the lips better (I assume).
As for the product itself, it's supposed to be a matte finish. I agree that it ends up being matte, but it takes a long time. Blending the souffle with your lips helps speed it up, but I think it's more of a creamy matte. It feels like a dream and th…

Music Monday: Piece By Piece

I've been meaning to listen to Kelly Clarkson's Piece By Piece album for so long so this is way over due but after seeing her on Idol the other week, I got inspiration to make the time to sit down and give it a listen. So here's my thoughts on each song:
Heartbeat Song: I've known this for ages! It's upbeat and fun to sing and has a nice beat!
Invincible: This song has been out for a while too but I've only listened to it a few times. I like when Kelly has slower songs as it showcases her voice, but I love the message behind the song. It may be on my "pick me up" playlist!
Someone: Slower than Invincible. Still has a bit of an up beat though!
Take You High: I've definitely heard this song before. I probably did not associate this with Kelly Clarkson. This album has more of a edm influence, like most music these days. I'm not the biggest fan of it only because I'm not a huge fan of the auto-tuney voice.
Piece By Piece: I love this song! When K…

Foodie Friday: Smoked Butterscotch Frappuccino

I love me some coffee. I love me some new Starbucks flavors even more. So, when I heard about the Smoked Butterscotch flavor, I got my best friend and dragged her to Starbucks with me so I can try it.
Let me just tell ya, the frappuccino tastes just like a Butterscotch Dum Dum. It was delish! It wasn't very coffee heavy as it's more of a sweet flavor, so if you're starting out with coffee, I would recommend you try it!
I've also tried this in iced coffee form and it was much more smoky tasting. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I prefer the frappuccino's more when it's the seasonal flavors.
Have you tried this yet?

The Review: elf Clear Lash and Brow Mascara

Let me just say that I am super low maintenance when it comes to my brows. Until the past year, I never did anything more than just brushing them into shape. Since I feel like my brows are full enough to not be filled in, I've been dabbling with clear mascara or clear brow gel.
This elf Clear Lash and Brow mascara was the first official brow product I ever used. I had no expectations except for it to keep my brows in place. It did the job and even darkened them slightly so my brows weren't dull. I never thought I could say that, as my brows are quite a lot to keep up with, but putting on just a clear mascara really made a difference.
The mascara is just $2! And it lasts a while, My sisters gave it to me half used already, so I'd imagine it can last definitely over a year. My only complaint is that sometimes it can get a bit too crispy if you don't brush out the gel with a spoolie or some brow brush. And I also don't see the need for the two parts if they both do th…

Watch It Wednesday: American Idol

If you've been keeping up with my Wednesday posts, you'll know that I am much more a fan of YouTube than actual TV shows. So, when I watch a show consistently, you know it's good!  American Idol is one of those shows that I only watch from start to finish if I watch it from the beginning. I also have a knack for picking out the best of the best too (Kelly, Carrie, Jordan, Scotty and Lauren Alaina(yes I know she was runner up)). Given that I haven't watched Idol since Scotty and Lauren's year, I only paid a little bit of attention to this season when I first saw that it was the last season, but also one of my favorites, Dalton, had auditioned and made it to Hollywood.  I had known about Dalton for about 2/3 years now because I found out about his band that he was in, IM5. I loved his voice from the start, and of course I wanted him to do well and I just keep checking his twitter to see how he was doing each week.  But then one night, I saw Lauren Alaina tweet that she …

Try It Tuesday: Soap & Glory's The Breakfast Scrub

Although I am all about facial scrubs, I never really dabbled with body scrubs. But after seeing some of the YouTubers I watch constantly rave about them, mixed with seeing a Soap & Glory sale, I decided to give them a go!
My first impression of the packaging was that it looked super cute and old fashioned, but I was wary of the whole "dip your fingers into it" thing. I much prefer pumps, but after just one use, I'm now converted to body scrubs.
Not only does this smell amazingly of brown sugar, like all my other Soap & Glory products, but this works wonders right away! I don't think I've ever felt my skin so soft so instantly.
This will definitely be one of my favorite shower products, if that even is possible...
