Lexi vs Serums Part 2

I think I set myself up to fail by stupidly choosing the most amazing serum ever to try on my first go. The second serum by Vichy that I was given a sample of is actually an anti-aging serum. It's the Neovadiol Magistral Elixir. Now I know you're not supposed to use anti-aging products until you're late 20s so I knew I wasn't going to have huge results.
First thing with the packaging: It's in a tiny glass bottle, not good. How will I know how much is enough and what happens if I pour too much? In reality, I had to shake it upside down for anything to come out, but when it did, too much poured out.

Second thing was that it was definitely an oil and not the consistency of the last serum. It did feel bad when I applied it in the morning, but I just didn't think my skin liked it. And again at night I just felt like I was putting oil on my face for no reason. Maybe it's because I'm 21 using an anti-aging product so I don't see the results but I guess it w…

The Lipstick That's Worth the Splurge

I always wanted to try a YSL lip product. I've heard nothing but good things about them. But me actually buying one on a whim? Well, that's totally something I would do...
Leave it to me to feel compelled to buy at least a lip thing whenever I walk into a makeup store. After buying tons of lippys for my friend for her birthday, she wanted to head into Sephora to grab her birthday gift. Then she proceded to look at lipsticks to get. She'd been eyeing up the one YSL lipstick since before my birthday (November) and I was telling her that she had to get it. Meanwhile, I stumble upon the words "sheer" and "moisture". I will try all lip products and lust over matte formulas (they're the one type of lip product I can resist) but as soon as I see anything that promises moisture, I'm all over it. I feel like I can never solve my dry lips but that just means I can continue my hunt for the best lip product (or that's what I tell myself). Either way, I&#…

The Mascara That Changed My View on Lashes...

I was gifted with naturally long and curled lashes. Therefore, there isn't a mascara that I've tried and haven't liked. There have been formulas that I don't get along with in terms of longevity and ease of removal, but for the lengthening and curling part, it always does the trick! Everyone always talked about how their lashes need to be so long and I'd always think to myself that they already touch my brows without mascara...
I've come to realize that I love any kind of gift set/trial size packages because there's about five things for the price of one and you get enough in the sample to last a while so you get a fair test with it. That being said, when I got the Benefit Advent calendar, I was given the option of another mascara that I've haven't heard much about, the BadGal Lash.
When I first tried it, I mixed it with my Neutrogena mascara. I loved it straight away but it wasn't until I used that mascara solely on my lashes for me to see the fu…

Weekly Catch-Up: 5/28/16

Here are the non-beauty things that have been grabbing my attention over the past week...
TV: I've recently started to binge watch Gilmore Girls. I grew up watching the show after school but I always planned to rewatch it start to finish and now I've had the time to do just that. Currently I'm in the middle of season 3 and there no longer is a Jess vs Dean debate for me, I'm convinced Dean is stalker like and I much prefer Jess. Which is ironic as when I was younger I hated Jess for breaking up Dean and Rory and now I see that they should have broken up sooner.
Music: I am an album kinda gal, I mostly listen to albums on repeat until I get sick of them. Meghan Trainor's new album is out and I've had definitely made some favorites already. I love Me Too, Watch Me Do, I Love Me, and Friends. But I've seen that Ariana Grande's new album is out and I kind of need to listen to it asap...
Books: So little story time, When I was like 10 my aunt took me and my co…

Getting Full Exposure

Yet another previously picked out mascara from a set, I was pleasantly surprised with this one! I had no idea what to expect other than my friend saying she liked it.
From what I know now, the brush is definitely for volume and that's exactly what you get! Seeing as that's the mascara vibe I'm liking at the moment, I think I'll be just fine. (Sidenote: it's very easy to take off, which is a huge plus in my eyes)

Let's Dew The Hoola!

One of the most talked about bronzers over the years is definitely Benefit's Hoola bronzer. Since I have many a bronzer to go through, I always put off actually buying a Hoola for myself...until Ulta sent me an email to get a sample of Dew the Hoola. From what I understand, it's basically Hoola just liquified.
This is also my first go at liquid bronzer. According to a Jaclyn Hill video, liquid should always go first and then apply powder so that nothing looks funky. It's a bit out of the routine that I'm used to, but I remembered to apply Dew the Hoola at the right time and I also expected it to be darker than my skintone, which it was, but it wasn't insanely darker. When blended out, it actually gave me that perfect sun-kissed glow. I was very impressed! However, now that it's summer, I'm going to get tanner, so therefore this bronzer might not be as effective for me now, but we'll see!

Giving Serums A Go

I've slowly gotten better with taking care of my skin. Mix that with curiosity of new products and you have me grabbing free samples from Vichy. I've heard all my favorite YouTubers go on and on about serums and I wanted to see what the fuss was about.
All Vichy packaging is in French so I have no idea what it's supposed to do, but I saw "for all skin types" on the bottle and thought this is the one I try first! It's the Aqualia Thermal Serum, and judging by the aqua in the title, I assume it's supposed to be hydrating. The bottle also says all you need is two drops.
Before I even put this on my face, I first looked up when serums should be applied. I read that it's after you wash your face and before you put on moisturizer. I also read that you don't need moisturizer in the morning with a serum. So, I did just that and all I can say is WOW. My skin instantly drank this up and my skin just felt so soft, I had to stop myself from stroking my cheeks…

The Birthday Gift I Should've Tried Sooner...

Like I said in my last post, I have somehow accumulated a lot of things to try and before my daily blogging idea, I slowly went through my "to try" bag.  Way back in November, I got my birthday gift from Ulta. Six months later, I finally gave it a go.
Ulta's Oct-Nov-Dec birthday gift was a full size Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie lipgloss in the special shade, Birthday Babe. You all know how much I love my lippys, so how I had the strength to resist trying it out before now is beyond me.
The packaging is like all other Bare packaging. It's sleek and simple, but with an added touch of a bow on the box. The lip gloss itself looks like any other Marvelous Moxie gloss.
I've only tried one thing from Bare Minerals before, and that was their Marvelous Moxie lipstick, so I had an idea that this gloss would be nourishing. What I didn't expect was the cooling mint sensation as soon as I applied it! Me and mint are besties so I loved it straight away. It also smells lik…

Gimme That Brow!

Let me first say that I'm sorry for my hiatus here, computer drama out the wazoo! But I'm back and inspired and I want to post DAILY! As usual, every post will be up at 12:00pm EST. Now, my posts are getting a slight revamp. I see that I try more than I can finish so the weekdays will be full of first impressions and the weekend will be a recap of sorts, I hope you're all as excited about this new chapter in my blogging life as I am!
On to the first impression...
So I love brows, but can't be bothered to really touch mine as they are naturally full and a pain to groom. That being said, I don't fill in my brows, but some hairs need to be put in their place. I've tried clear mascara and a tinted brow gel, so I'm upgrading my brow game after I played the field for a bit. I love to try out drugstore products first as it's an inexpensive way to get a feel for a new product in my routine before I go all out on something I don't know how to use yet. Now that…
